Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

June 14, 2014

I have been using the Beauty Blender for quite a while and I couldn't see any reason to stop using it. So when I heard reviews that there was a sponge by Real Techniques which is similar to the Beauty Blender but cheaper, I had to try it. And since I have a few Real Techniques brushes that works amazingly, this one looks promising...

The moment I opened it, I felt the sponge was a bit tough. I mean the Beauty Blender is a lot more soft and bouncy. (I am going to use the Beauty Blender as a comparison because that is what most of us are more familiar with.)

Here's a 360 degrees look of the sponge:

They have three parts to the sponge, the flat edge, the sides and the tip. They all have different functions to aid in creating the perfect canvas.

The Flat Edge

This part of the sponge is perfect for contouring around the eyes and nose. It mimics the flat angled kabuki brush. So just use the edge to create a little line on your cheek and then blend it, gently.

The Sides

Use the sides to blend the larger areas of your face such as the cheeks and foreheads. Use the bouncy/dabbing technique to get that airbrush look.

The Tip

If you have a pimple to cover up, this part of the sponge will do just that for you. You can also use it to highlight the side of your nose and to reach the small corners of your face.

I used it damp with my liquid foundation, just like the Beauty Blender. At first it was a bit tough because I was used to Beauty Blender's softness. So it took a while to get used to that feeling but I finally got the hang of it and love it. I think it is more sturdy and easier to handle. The finished result was amazing!

I have always been a fan of the dewy look because it gives a more natural finish. With a matte finish, I feel like a piece of paper, haha. Also, it costs way, way, way cheaper than a Beauty Blender so I will probably stick to this the next time. I hope it lasts as long as well!

Anyway girls, I am planning to bring in some of the items I have reviewed (those you can't get in Singapore) and put it up for sale. If there's a demand, I will bring the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. Then, we can move on to other products.

If you all interested, please leave me a comment.
