Top 2014 Favourites

January 05, 2015

How was your New Year? I hope all is well for you. As for me, it was just a night spent with my loved ones. When was the last time I went for a countdown night out? I can't remember!

And of course you girls know I won't miss this post right? I will tell you what are my favourite products for the previous year. I hope it will help some of you who are interested to know more about my makeup/skincare routine!

This year was a year I explored more. I changed my usual routine of makeup and skincare. It was also the year I noticed changes in my skin - I no longer have bad breakouts (unless due to allergy e.g Blackpaint soap) and it is now less oily. Although it is getting dry and sadly, that is the first sign of ageing.

But who cares? I shall embrace growing into a mature woman and age with grace. You can't stop growing, so why not enjoy every bit of it?

Relief is when you come home and remove your makeup straight away. On days I wear full makeup, Clean Energy™ Gentle cleansing oil is my saviour. I used to dislike oil so much but it removes my makeup so easily, I can't hate it now.

How do I use this: I pour some on my hands, spread it on my face and slowly massage my skin to remove all of my makeup and yes, mascara inclusive.

Like I said, my skin is no longer as oily as my teenage days so I need that extra moisture. Olay Aqua Action Long Lasting Hydration Gel is a jar of goodness. It smells so good and it keeps your skin moisturised.

When do I use it: At night, before I go to sleep. I like to leave it on while I sleep and wake up with smooth, glowing skin. Another reason is that it is quite heavy and takes a long time to absorb.

Where have you been all my life life life life~ I cannot emphasise how important brows are and this little jar of Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade makes a hell lot of difference. It definitely cuts down the time spent on brows from 20 mins to about 10 mins. It is so easy to use too.

I saw a few Youtube gurus use MAC Face and Body Foundation because it gives off this glow and it's not too cakey. If you are looking for something that suits oily skin and have a high coverage, this is not the one. But if you have slightly dry, clear skin and just need some coverage, this will work.

How I use this: I use this with my Sigma F80 Brush.

The  Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush is my ultimate favourite now. It is the perfect brush for liquid foundation. It's soft bristles won't hurt your face too. It also works if you need a brush for your tinted moisturiser.

I had another shade of these lovely Sephora Cream Lip Stain but I lost it and it was my favourite! Time to get a new one, I guess. These lippies will glide smoothly on your lips and will dry up to a matte finish. Trust me, the staying power is AWESOME. I can eat oily food, drink a few cups of water and by 10pm, it is still there. If you are lazy like me to touch up every single minute, grab these babies!

Klarity Lasertox CC Cream is colourless and weightless. It doesn't clog my pores or break me out like other CC Creams. I use this on working days because I hate heavy makeup while I am working. So this works really well as it brightens up my skin and won't make me look like a zombie at work.

How do I use this: Just spread all over my face after my moisturiser. I will fix my brows and put on some mascara and a soft nude lipstick and I'm done!

How I achieve my long lashes? I use 3 mascaras. I'm not kidding. The best part is, these mascaras are all CHEAP. Loreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Waterproof Mascara ($17), Essence All Eyes On Me Waterproof Mascara ($4.40) and Daiso's Twin Side Mascara ($2).

What do they do: Loreal Mascara will lengthen my lashes, Essence's will darken and lengthen while Daiso's will thicken my lashes. The result will be long and thick lashes!

I like using the same perfume over and over again for a period of time and for the last few months, Bath & Body Works' Dark Kiss EDT is my choice. It is a sweet, vanilla scent that is perfect for everyday use. They also sell in tiny bottles (3 for $20) which you can put in your bag in case you need to spray again. But I don't usually spray too often. The smell stays for a quite a while.

I once went into a train and a group of girls asked among themselves if all of them could detect where the sweet smell came from. HAHA. It was probably too strong at that point of time.

I used to care for my hair A LOT when I wasn't wearing my hijab. I go for treatments at least once every 3-6 months. I got lazier after I cover up because I thought, who the hell gets to see my hair? But I noticed a significant amount of hair loss after a while and my hair was thinning.

I read reviews online and got to know Mane 'n Tail will help in thickening and hair growth. I tried the original version but it dried up my hair so I changed to Herbal Gro and I love it! I recommend this to everyone.

So there you go! I know I haven't been doing any tutorials on Youtube lately but I got new lens recently and will try to video one soon. Wish me luck!

  1. hey! when you're outside to solat, how do you remove your makeup? Any product to recommend? And after solat, how long does it take you to put your makeup back on? Thank u!

    1. Hello. Sorry for the late reply. I usually take my wudhu early and zohor at home. I will try to keep my wudhu at least till maghrib. I also have a pack of makeup remover wipes in case there is an urgent need to go to the toilet, I will just remove it. Then I will reapply whatever is needed such as my powder foundation, eyeliner and lipstick. It will take about 15-20mins? :)
