Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip

August 31, 2015

I'm sure some of you must have heard about Colourpop's Ultra Matte Lip and how it was completely wiped out from their site on the first day it was released. I thought people went nuts but when they released it for the second time, I finally understood why.

When the package arrived, of course I wasted no time and opened up the box and swatched every single colour. My first impression was, well, this looks like any other matte lip product that a lot of brands have produced recently. The packaging was sleek and sexy.

"If this is as good as Sephora's Cream Lip Stain, I'm SOLD," I thought to myself as I swatched it on the back of my hands.

It has a simple sponge applicator like most matte lip products. You might have to dip twice to get the right amount of product for your lips but that's fine with me.

I tried it on the next few days and was pleasantly surprised. The colour payoff was perfect. Some matte lip products can be sheer but this one is pigmented. Since it's matte and creamy, I expected it to be heavy but instead it felt like second skin. You know how some lip products restrict your lips movements? And how some gets really sticky? That's not the case for this one. So, perfect texture? CHECKED.

I ate oily food, drank straight from the bottle, licked my lips and it was there the whole day. It didn't dry my lips up at all and I had no problem applying it without a lip balm. I also didn't experience any feathering.

I bought a total of 7 colours to try out (yes I buy 7 to try out, don't judge) and I think it's a good idea to do lip swatches here so you girls know what to expect if you decided to grab them. Excuse the uneven application for some photos. They were really difficult to remove, I had to use my oil cleanser and then my makeup remover gel because they will not budge with just a makeup remover wipe. My lips were sore from putting one colour on and then removing it for 7 times.

There you go! The colours I bought were perfect for my tanned skin so I am definitely happy with them. The thing about Colourpop is that they actually show how the shades look on the different skin tones. It makes me feel included because not only fair people buy makeup, you know. So thank you Colourpop for creating amazing products and BEING amazing!

You can buy these from Poppy & Makeup. You don't have to worry about waiting time because they are instocks! Have fun ladies!
